Gübelin Ipsomatic is launched
170 years of Haus Gübelin
Congratulations to Haus Gübelin on its 170th anniversary! On 3 October 2024, Raphael Gübelin and the designer Santiago Calatrava unveiled a new watch: the "Gübelin Ipsomatic". DuBois et fils was not only a guest at the event, but also a member of the development team.
Platinum watch with Felsa movement
The new Gübelin Platinum watch is limited to 170 pieces, a number that reflects the 170th anniversary of the House of Gübelin.
The timepiece (39mm) is powered by a historic Felsa movement, an exceptional calibre that pays tribute to the history of the Gübelin company.
Collaboration
DuBois et fils is grateful to have been involved in this exceptional project with the House of Gübelin. The brand is proud and delighted to have contributed its expertise to the development of this exceptional timepiece.
The watch was designed by the Spanish-Swiss architect, engineer and artist Santiago Calatrava. He is one of today's most important and influential architects and this is the first time he has applied his art to a wristwatch.
Felsa automatic movement
The Gübelin Ipsomatic watch is powered by a Felsa automatic movement, a calibre 1560. This comes from the collection of DuBois et fils, which contains thousands of original Swiss watch movements.
DuBois et fils was involved in the creation of the timepiece and contributed its own many years of experience in handling historical movements.
Tradition and innovation
For its 100th anniversary, Gübelin presented an Ipsomatic watch with a beautifully crafted rotor engraved with the dates 1854-1954 and a Felsa movement.
The rotor of the new Ipsomatic is engraved with the dates 1854-2024. A Felsa Bidynator was used for the new timepiece. The historic movement was completely disassembled, cleaned, refurbished and regulated with great attention to detail and care.
Drawing by Santiago Calatrava
Santiago Calatrava is famous for his drawings and sketches of animals. One of his drawings of two bulls is engraved on the back of the clock:
“The two bulls represent the positive energy, the force and the permanence in a universe which is constantly changing in time."
