Football's lifeblood
From 14 June 2024, football enthusiast Peter Knäbel will be wearing the DBF008-13 Limited Edition No. 22.
For 30 days, he will record his impressions of this year's European Championship in Germany in the NFT Diary linked to the watch. Using videos, photos and text, he will document the matches leading up to the final on 14 July and provided personal insights into his footballing life to date.
Peter Knäbel wore the beautiful DBF008-13-22 on his wrist for a few weeks. The watch was auctioned and sold for CHF 5650.
Peter Knäbel was born in Witten on 2 October 1966. He is a German-born former footballer who played for various clubs during his career. He made his debut for VfL Bochum in 1986. Two years later he moved to FC St. Pauli and in 1993 to 1. FC Saarbrücken in 1993. Between 1994 and 1998, he played for TSV 1860 Munich, FC St. Gallen and 1. FC Nürnberg, where he ended his playing career. Knäbel has had a varied career with a number of different clubs.
Peter Knäbel has put his love of the sport and his footballing skills and knowledge to good use at various clubs. In 2000, Knäbel became technical director of the youth academy at FC Winterthur, where he was responsible for the development of players such as Mehmedi, Zuffi and Abrashi. From 2003 to 2009, he was technical director of FC Basel's youth academy and a member of the club's board of directors. During this time, he was involved in the development of players such as Rakitic, Shaqiri, Xhaka and Sommer. In September 2009, he moved to the Swiss Football Association, where he also served as technical director. In 2014, he joined HSV football AG as sporting director before setting up his own sports consultancy in 2016.

The experienced football expert eventually found his way back to his native North Rhine-Westphalia to join FC Schalke 04. He has worked for the club since 2018, initially as Technical Director, established the new talent and coaching development programme and was involved in the development of talents such as Malik Thiaw and Assan Ouédraogo. Today, he is a member of the Board of Directors and is working on a sporting development concept, among other things, to take the club forward.
