The DBF008 automatic movement is a jewel from the 1960s. We found it, along with other vintage relics of the Swiss watch industry, in the attic of a couple of dedicated collectors.
The movements from that era are not only reliable, but robust. Thanks to old craftmanship, the DBF008 is equipped with a historic movement that was made in Switzerland and ticks at the highest level. The case withstands the high demands on the watch and complements the movement perfectly.
Our team researched and reactivated an age-old technique for the production of the DBF008: the earliest technique for assembling case parts of a watch. The result was a timepiece you can rely on. High-quality Swiss craftsmanship lives on not only in books, but also on your wrist — with the DBF008.
A highly important part of the DBF008 is the crown. Once installed, it not only rounds off the picture of the watch visually, but is also an irreplaceable technical component. Especially with the DBF008: each movement is equipped with a crown featuring a push button. This allows the date to be adjusted by simply pressing the crown.
Although the diameter of the DBF008 is reduced to 39mm, the new DuBois watch has a large-looking face. To create this effect, we use an old technique: the case of the watch is assembled from the bottom up. This involves pressing the bezel onto the watch from the top-side and attaching it via a snap-fit. The domed box sapphire crystal extends quite far outwards and is framed by a fine rim.
Beneath the aesthetically and beautifully domed and rounded box sapphire crystal lies not only the dial, but also the movement of the DBF008.
The movement is inserted from the top before the rest of the elements follow. The screws, hands and the crown are extremely small and filigree. Only when all the individual parts are precisely assembled with each other does the watch run. This is a craft that requires an exceptionally high level of intuition and sensitivity.
We combine old knowledge with new ideas — including with the DBF008. The "corns", also known as "horns", are the connecting elements between the case and the watchband. These elements are first polished and only then do we solder them onto the satin-finished area of the housing.
Soldering was once used to attach the hinges of a pocket watch. Today, this watch technic is still being used for precious metals. However, the process is complex and expensive.
