Our CEO-Talk with Beat Röthlisberger

We had a distinguished visitor yesterday. Beat Röthlisberger, the CEO of PostFinance, visited the DuBois et fils showroom. During his conversation with Tobias Steinemann, he shared personal insights on various topics with the approximately 50 visitors.

We learnt that Beat Röthlisberger remained unperturbed by the sensationalist headline on the ‘Inside Paradeplatz’ tabloid platform regarding his appointment (‘Postfinance recruits a nobody from the Basel backwaters’). After all, he prefers to be underestimated. The unique structure of Postfinance was naturally also a topic of discussion. The bank is a subsidiary of a state-owned enterprise. Beat Röthlisberger explained the strategic advantages and disadvantages that this arrangement entails. For example, one consequence of this arrangement is that Postfinance is legally prohibited from operating in the credit or mortgage business. It was fascinating to hear Postfinance's stance on this ban, and to hear Beat Röthlisberger's nuanced comments on it.

In addition to discussing these and other 'banking topics', our guests also had the opportunity to get to know Beat Röthlisberger as a person.

Anyone familiar with DuBois et fils will know that this event was not a traditional lecture-style affair, either. During the social part of the evening following the talk, the focus was on our watches, chilled drinks, fine food, and good conversation. We were, of course, particularly delighted by the enthusiasm with which our guests participated in the guided tours of the DuBois workshop.

These encounters give us plenty of energy for the next steps. We always welcome visitors, whether they join us at an event or arrange an appointment in the showroom.
