The heart of the watch was produced in the 1950s by Fabrique d'Ébauches, a company founded in 1856 and based in Grenchen. ETA’s Chronostop movement is one of the most interesting developments of its time and became known as the ‘60-second chronograph’ or ‘Chronostop’. This movement was produced in relatively small numbers from the early to mid-1950s, after which it fell into obscurity. This makes it highly sought-after by today’s collectors.
The Chronostop impresses with its exceptional design. A single press of the button is all it takes for the seconds hand to jump immediately to zero, allowing a new, second-accurate measurement to begin straight away. Unlike conventional chronographs, which require multiple presses, this process is completed in one smooth action.
