Neue Chronik: Das Tagebuch Ihrer Uhr
A watch is more than a handsome accessory. Stories are hidden in each one, the origins of which lie in the past and continue until the present. Especially in the case of DuBois et fils watches: they are unique pieces that have something to tell - for example, all about the built-in movements, the design of the watch or the production. As a company steeped in long tradition, it is important for us to pass these stories on to our customers. Stories which are part of the watch and accompany each one of them every second.
About a year ago, we decided to create a digital twin for every DBF007 Diver watch. This means that today every watch owner has access to a personal customer profile and can call up information about their own watch. Although the watch works mechanically on the wrist, it is connected to a digital space. A blockchain makes it possible to store all the data on the watch securely.
Are you aware that you own a genuine world premiere?
The DBF007 is the first and, to date, the only Swiss luxury watch connected to a blockchain-secured chronicle. This chronicle works like a database for the user. All the data for each individual DBF007 is stored there securely and unchangeably. For you, this means that all important information about your watch stays connected to your piece of jewelery forever. The articles — including the emergence of the movement to the DBF007 watch — can be accessed there at any time.
This chronicle is a novelty that was created in cooperation with the subsidiary of DuBois et fils, SwissValueCHAin. Further technological developments aren’t quite yet complete. Together we are now going one step further: In addition to the read function, it will soon be possible to add your own personal contribution to the chronicle.
Chronicle with new possibilities
The big plus: you can add personal pictures, text, videos or audio files to your digital watch chronicle in the future. This diary, i.e. your chronicle in the customer profile, remains connected to the blockchain and your data is permanently and securely stored.
Forever linked to the "Master of Tennis"
Imagine: While shopping, you meet Roger Federer and take a selfie with him. Then you save that shot to your chronicle. So, even after twenty years, you will have proof that your DuBois et fils watch met the Master of Tennis!
Personal credit account
To enable you to save your own data easily and individually in your customer profile, the new chronicle is equipped with a credit account where you can easily handle all actions. This is relevant; your own timeline entries will not be free of charge. Storing the entries will incur a nominal fee, as does storing the data, even though we are working with our own Swiss blockchain.
So, in the future if you would like to add images, text, videos or audio files to your chronicle, putting them online will cost CHF 1.60. When you make an entry, that amount will be deducted directly from your credit account.
DuBois et fils gives away start-up fee
The final test phase is currently underway to ensure that everything works properly on activation day. Testing the system is an important factor and will take a bit more time.
As soon as it starts, you’ll receive a start-up fee credit of CHF 16.00 as a gift from DuBois et fils. This will then allow you to start uploading files directly to your personal timeline — which will be only visible to you. We will of course inform you when the time comes.
Best regards
