The moon has always been a great mystery and source of inspiration for humanity. There are countless legends, myths and stories about the moon. This chameleon 'in the firmament' has always inspired watchmakers.
The moon phase in conjunction with a calendar has been a feature of pocket watches for several centuries. Yet, calendar indications on pocket watches were a rarity for a long time.
The MONTRE CALENDRIER collection is an homage to the first calendar watches (1798) from the house of DuBois et fils. The model Montre Calendrier N°1 unites the moon phase and calendar on an understated silver-plated dial, and is a perfect example of a watch design of timeless beauty.
The auction ends on 29 May 2015 at 10 pm.
